Scarring Alopecia

Scarring alopecia is typically caused by inflammation which results in the destruction of the hair follicle leading to irreversible hair loss. If the condition is treated early it is sometimes possible to regrow hair

Causes:-

1. Fungal infection
2. Mechanical traction
3. Chemically treated hair
4. Inflammatory disorders

Symptoms of scaring alopecia – it begins as one or more permanent bald patch on the scalp. This Patch can be discrete or coalesce to produce a bigger bald area on the scalp slowly progressing to near-total alopecia. The bald patches on the scalp have a smooth and shiny appearance.

The symptoms of scarring alopecia are:-

1. itching of scalp
2. Burning of scalp
3. Pus discharge of
4. Pain
5. Patches of ruff and scaly skin
6. Crusting
7. Formation of blister
